Practical information
French government free housing services
- To rent accommodation in France, you will need a rental deposit. This is provided by a person who can guarantee to pay the rent to your landlord if you’re unable to do so yourself.
- In addition to your family, you can now use the Visale rental guarantee, which is 100% free of charge for all students over the age of 18 and is accessible without means testing and for all types of accommodation
Housing support
To provide financial support for students in need, Action Logement’ offers a range of schemes that can be combined with Crous bursaries and CAF housing benefits. It also provides a range of suitable accommodation options.

CAF (Department of Health & Social Security)
The CAF (Department of Health & Social Security) is a branch of the French government that provides housing assistance.
As a student, you may be eligible for this type of aid.
