ESSCA obtains the United Nations PRME quality label to encourage social responsibility

What is PRME?The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative of the United Nations Global Compact aims to inspire and promote responsible management education, research and practice internationally.Six principles are at the heart of PRME’s work. These principles are closely aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 2030.

When did ESSCA join this UN initiative?

ESSCA School of Management has been a PRME signatory since September 2017. In November 2017, it participated in the creation of the France-Benelux Chapter (grouping of institutions) with other management schools. In September 2019, it submitted its first report on the implementation of the 6 PRME principles for responsible management education (SIP Report).

Why join the PRME network?

Through its commitment to the Principles for Responsible Management Education, ESSCA wishes to encourage students and employees in a continuous improvement process aimed at integrating environmental, social and societal issues into all decision-making. Signatories of the PRME initiative have access to dynamic local and global communities dealing with training issues and collaborating on projects and events that respond to the complex challenges facing companies and society.

The 6 principles of the PRME mission :

  1. Objective: To develop students’ capacities to become future generators of sustainable value for business and society as a whole and to work towards an inclusive and sustainable global economy.
  2. Values: Integrate into our academic activities the values of responsibility as outlined in international initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact.
  3. Methodology: Develop educational frameworks, materials, processes and environments that enable effective learning for responsible leadership.
  4. Research: Engage in conceptual and empirical research that advances our understanding of the role, dynamics and impact of business in the creation of socially, environmentally and economically sustainable values.
  5. Partnership: Interact with managers of commercial companies to broaden our knowledge of the challenges of corporate social and environmental responsibility and explore together effective approaches to address these challenges.
  6. Dialogue: To facilitate and support dialogue and debate among academics, business, governments, consumers, media, civil society organisations and other groups and stakeholders interested in the challenges of global social responsibility.
